While West Virginia has been historically known as
"Almost Heaven", which it truly is, its image is
changing. Today, the north central part of the state
fosters a high technology, aerospace and modern service
industry persona which was previously unheard of. And it
all started at MAAC with its growing compliment of
aerospace industry services.
Today the MAAC serves critical areas by providing
first-rate maintenance, overhaul, manufacturing and
training services for the aerospace industry.
The Mid-Atlantic Aerospace Complex, Inc. is an
economic development company. MAAC, Inc. has the main
mission to develop North Central West Virginia Airport into
its full potential.
Thanks to the team at work for MAAC, the complex
today employs some 1,400 people in aviation-related
jobs, and provides a direct wage and benefit impact of
about $50 million annually. Total direct and indirect
jobs attributed to the local aerospace industry number
about 3,200. |
